Several civil society representatives and sympathizers with the former Moroccan athlete Khalid Skah stand yesterday in front of the Norwegian Embassy in Rabat, in a protest against the kidnap of his two minor children.
Skah denounced the leave of his two children, Tarik who is 13 years old and his sister Selma who is 16, the national territory illegally and demanded, in a statement distributed to journalists, to retrieve them.
Skah also condemned the behaviour of the Ambassador of
Norway, who "challenged the Moroccan and the international law as well
as diplomatic conventions," pointing out that he will resort to
international judicial bodies and human rights organizations "to expose
this crime”
The demonstrators raised banners, flags of Morocco and a pictures of the Norwegian Ambassador to Morocco Bjoern
Olav Blokhus who is accused of "kidnapping" the children of the former athletic Skah, in the night of 18-19 July.
"The Norwegian Government has to return my children to their
homeland. This is the only solution to this crime," Khalid Skah told
AFP.
It should be noted that the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has summoned the Ambassador of Norway to Morocco, in order to provide clarifications about the disappearance of Skah’s children, after a stay at the Norwegian ambassador residence in Rabat. On the other hand, Taib Fassi Fihri, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, also held talks with his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Stoere providing him with "the facts and arguments which prove the involvement of the Norwegian Embassy in Rabat in the leave of Skah’ minor children the national territory illegally."
